First appointment

Please note that you must make your appointment for your first-trimester ultrasound and for your first-trimester blood tests before your first appointment with us.

You will find more information about this in our explanatory leaflet.

At your first-trimester ultrasound, the radiologist will also do a nuchal translucency screening. This must absolutely be done between 11+0 and 13+6 weeks of pregnancy.

At the time of your first-trimester blood test, a work-up of your general health will be done. If you wish to participate in the Quebec Prenatal Screening Program for Trisomy 21 (PQDPT21), the test will be done at the same time.

You can obtain more information on the PQDPT21.

The general health work-up must be done at the Hôpital de la Cité-de-la-Santé of Laval test center. You can make an appointment by calling 1-877-644-4545 or online at their website.

Your appointment will be set based on your first-trimester ultrasound, that is, few days after the ultrasound.

The requests for your ultrasound and your blood work will be given to you at your first appointment. You may also come in and get them before your first appointment, by presenting yourself to the front desk during working hours. Your doctor may add other tests, depending on your state of health.

Your first appointment will take place at around 9 to 11 weeks. If you have a history of ectopic pregnancy, repeated miscarriages, or if you have bleeding, it is important to mention that to our secretaries before your first appointment.

If you have a CNESST (Labour Standards, Pay Equity and Occupational Health and Safety) request to make, you may do so at the time of your first appointment. You may come to our office at any time and make the request at the front desk.
